1. Introduction to hair measurement
Hair serves both a biological purpose in protecting the scalp and a social role in enhancing physical attractiveness, and as such, conditions such as hair loss, graying, and dandruff can be emotionally distressful for individuals who place a high value on their appearance. This is because hair condition often plays a significant role in a person's self-perception of physical beauty.
Maintaining healthy scalp and hair is crucial for both physical and mental well-being. Therefore, taking care of our scalp and hair is essential. With the Chowis Hair Analyzer, we now offer you and your customers a quick and non-invasive method to diagnose hair and scalp, assisting you to identify problems and find solutions in a more efficient manner.
2. Chowis hair & scalp analyzer
The Chowis Hair Analyzer, shown in Figure 1, is a portable trichoscopic handset equipped with plain-polarized light (PPL) and cross-polarized light (XPL), which enables 50x magnification of the circular surface of the hair and scalp under scope (6mm in diameter) with a lateral resolution on the scale of micrometers. The custom-designed light modes PPL and XPL allow for close observation of the scalp and hair features, including hair thickness, hair density, scalp sensitivity, and scalp keratin among others.
The Chowis Hair Analyzer also includes Wi-Fi communication modules capable of sending the captured images to our DermoBella Hair companion APP, which boasts advanced computer vision algorithms and artificial intelligence to assist in hair and scalp diagnoses on a professional level. Moreover, with a decade of experience in the field and by utilizing our vast pool of data, we provide expert-approved grading systems to quantify each hair and scalp feature and help provide better targeted treatments for your customers.
